I confess I don’t consider that I’ve read a (non-fiction) book properly until it’s covered in pencil marks, highlighter, dog-ears, strips of paper with more scribbles on, biro annotations because I couldn’t find a book pencil in and (of course) the occasional coffee stain. It’s always easy tell the books I’ve appreciated the most. But pretty rolls of tape? That’s a step too far for this aging goth…
Oh go on I double dare you. I bet you can get washi tape with skulls on or something. I have a dark purple one. Would that appeal? Mind you, I love your way. Sounds cool.
I absolutely love these creative ideas, Claire! Wow. Thanks for the inspiration! Washi tape is amazing, but I actually haven’t used it in a while. Think I’ll have to pull it out a get a bit more crafty again! 😘
Ohhh I like these ideas! I love washi tape but can never think of things to do with it. This has also given me an idea for using plain washi tape to create found poetry on some cards (not tarot more picture ones) and I love the idea of using to anotate books.
My kids and grandkids always seem to have rolls of this tape, and I could never work out why they had such narrow little sticky tape that didn’t stick that well. 😂
Now I know.
And I am off to buy some. I love annotating books, especially cookbooks, I think it helps the books feel appreciated - but sometimes want to change what I have written, which gets messy 🤣.
And I have a brain like a sieve, so this will be very helpful for the Tarot cards, although I also just let the pictures speak for themselves - especially the Russian Gypsy set, where the instructions are in Russian anyway 🤷🏼♀️.
Such a smart idea, Claire...I love washi tape for vision boarding and love the idea of using them for tarot cards. Assuming they're coated! Although I think I would cry if someone put washi tape on my card deck 😅
I learned through YouTube! 😀 I mostly do a 5-hole pamphlet stitch, but there's 3-hole, Japanese binding and more. I even made a Tarot Moon Journal before. Our shop is http://ChezBoyer.Etsy.com if you'd like to take a peek at some I’ve made. (We're the creators of the Coffee Tarot and Snowland Deck—and I’ve written 5 Tarot books. 😉)
Love this Clare, especially 4 and 5. Having sight of my daily card would work very well for me. These days, things have to be right under my nose! I also loved making clothes for paper dolls, I could spend hours designing outfits 😁
Claire, can you suggest an introductory text to help me get started with tarot cards? I am totally new to the whole process/experience. I don’t know what the deck consists of—apparently it is different with different sets but—there seems to be a common format; I don’t know how to use the cards—how to handle them, lay them out, draw them—or how to approach them—with a question or just open to see what comes up? Thanks for any suggestions. Gay
Isn't it good. Honestly it's not very well known for some reason but it's probably the most down to earth yet magical book I've come across. Such a lovely tone to it. Not pretentious and very relatable.
I suggest looking at my post tarot for beginners. I think it's all answered in there. My membership addresses a card a week and tips on how to read the cards. Have a play. I promise nothing bad will happen and if a card comes out that makes you feel a bit anxious remember cards don't cause anything to happen. I use the Rider Waite Smith system. Let me know how it goes.

You really don’t want to lend me a book, though…

You're welcome Liz. Tarot can be very creative can't it.
We have SO MUCH washi tape in this house, what great ideas for how to use it!

Wonderful idea
This is so simple yet so lovely! Thank you for sharing Claire
Oh, I love this. And coincidentally I also happen to have a small stock of washing tape.
Thanks for the idea
Happy washi ING
Ha! Well that’s my thing I have learned today!

Yes, a combination of both is good
Sounds fun. Must try that!
Do!

I promise I won't
I make hand-sewn journals and mixed media pieces and LOVE washi tape! Great ideas for using it in Tarot work. 🙂
I'd love to know how to make a hand sewn journal

Also the book WILD CARD is fantastic

Thank you. Got more questions from your response but I will follow your suggestions first then come back for Moore as needed!
You recently joined my membership didn't you Gay? Meet me here or in chat if it helps.
I love these ideas, especially putting keywords on washi and putting it on the back of your cards. I'm still learning, and that would help me.
