The queen of wands
Keywords and phrases
Caretaker of inner creative power, guardian of inspiration, nurturer and protector of spiritual energies
Elements
All the queens represent the water element (cups) as well as their suit element which in this case is fire (wands)
Numerology
The queen is a 4 in numerology the 13th card in the suit. 1+3 = 4. Number 4 is about structure, foundations and protection or creating a safe space.
A note on gender
I'll refer to the queen as she but the queen of wands can be any gender
The queen of wands
The queen isn't a person. She is part of you and your inner life that has created space for your inspiration to burn brightly.
The fact that this queen is in touch with what lights her up doesn't happen by coincidence.
The queen knows already exactly what she needs to put in place to stay creative and feel alive. She's had to learn this for herself over and over.
The queen is the keeper and protector of the hearth. She fetches the wood, builds it carefully, lights it and keeps it stoked up.
What does this mean for us symbolically this week?
Have a think about what really inspires you and fuels your creative side. By this I don't necessarily mean what gets you painting or crocheting a blanket.
I mean what warms you, opens your heart and helps you to feel in touch with a sense of connection to the world.
Does it feel alive in you right now or has the spark gone out? Is it time to reignite that? How can this be done? How can you create the space for all that?
A word of warning! This isn't about rushing about blindly. The idea isn’ t to make a new chore on the to do list.
Queens are responsive to their needs in an open way and set boundaries which help them to move steadily and intentionally rather than rushing about.
The queen has all the foundations for inspiration to keep burning and puts them in place.
I love that the queen of wands is coming up as we move into the fire season or Sagittarius season slowly. Not there yet but almost. With all this darkness we need to stoke the inner fires up and create our own light.
Water and fire
Of course the queen is both water and fire. Water is symbolic of the emotions in tarot but it’s also quite literally what keeps us alive and nourished.
Let's imagine she's also boiling a big pot of water on her fire. She has to keep her eye on the water to keep it at a good simmer so that the water stays warm enough for tea but doesn't boil over and extinguish the flames.
Do you see how the analogy continues? Queens have an inner steadiness and protect their energy and emotions well. The equivalent of keeping the water on a healthy simmer you might say.
Have you ever noticed how if you are too enthusiastic you burn out or if you sit back too much and leave things to fate nothing happens. The queen is the balancer between those two polarities.
The charismatic queen
She’s a very charismatic queen and people are attracted to her. She doesn't have to try hard at that though. Her ability to be sensitive to her own needs comes from her own wisdom that she must know herself first and care for her needs first before she can serve others. That's her attraction. People know it immediately.
I think that the queen of wands can be misunderstood though. In a way her charisma can be down to earth, not showy. She isn't a try hard queen. Her magic is authentic and subtle and never put on.
So, this week trust yourself, trust what you need and offer it to yourself. Others will be warmed by it. I’ll be joining you in the practice.

Beginners tips
Pull a card and at the end of the day reflect back on how this card showed up for you. Don't worry if it doesn't fit a traditional interpretation. A real life relationship with the card is much more important.
I hope you have a lovely week. I've just put some twinkling lights in a killer jar and played winter hymnal by the Fleet Foxes so tbe C word is approaching.
Do let me know in the comments if there’s anything that has resonated with you in today's post.
